
Museums of Russia: Interactive historical project “Oranienbaum through centuries” in the Grand Menshikov Palace
July 25, 2016 will be held the grand opening of the new exhibition of the Grand Menshikov Palace in Oranienbaum "Oranienbaum through centuries". For the first time in the space of the Grand Palace is presented the history of the Most Serene Prince Alexander Menshikov, the first owner and builder of the grand residence at Oranienbaum.
Since opening in 2011, the Grand Palace in Oranienbaum was visited by thousands of people. The exposition of the central part of the palace recreates the life of the court of Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna, brilliant hostess Oranienbaum middle of the XIX century. However, a unique monument of architecture, built in the first quarter of the XVIII century, there is another story - the story of the "first" great men of the state.
After completing the restoration of the west wing of the Grand Palace, the Museum-Reserve drew attention to residents and visitors alike a new historical museum project - "Oranienbaum through centuries": a few rooms combine traditional museum exposition techniques and the latest multimedia technology.
Guests of the palace will learn a lot about ancient Izhora lands. The virtual space will allow viewers to "transfer" a few thousand years ago, finding themselves on the bank of the Finnish waters after the end of the Ice Age, and then see the process of formation of the modern landscape.
Visitors of the museum will be participants of exciting battles of the Northern War, will be at the command post of Peter I and the walls of a besieged fortress "Oreshek". Next, they will visit the audience with the Governor of Ingermanland, "the Duke of Izhora" - Alexander Menshikov, as if entering into a study of "the light". Of particular interest is the unique mechanical layout, which introduces architectural changes palace and park ensemble for decades.
