Memory of Russia: The exhibition of the fates of Decembrists “Drama of rebellious reformers” in the Leningrad region

July 24, 2016 in the Fortress Oreshek in the new prison building (the Leningrad region) is opening the exhibition "Drama of rebellious reformers".

The exhibition tells about the fate of participants in the uprising of the Decembrists at the Senate Square, who were under court sentence prisoners of Shlisselburg Fortress (Oreshek fortress).

Speech of Decembrists at the Senate Square was held December 14, 1825. After the uprising of its members were arrested and placed in the Peter and Paul Fortress: The Secret in the house of Alekseevsky Ravelin, in casemates fortress bastions and curtains. The interrogations were conducted in the Commandant's House, the seat of the Investigative Committee. Here 12 (24) July 1826 from 12 am to 4 am, a meeting of the Supreme Criminal Court, which declared the verdict to leaders and participants in the uprising at the Senate Square. 

Eighteen of the Decembrists were sent to Schlisselburg fortress. Some have been here for a few months, some were literally day travel, which immediately follow in other places of detention. The sole of the Decembrists, who spent the whole term - six years - Shlisselburg Fortress was Joseph V. Poggio.

The exhibition tells the story of the uprising at the Senate Square, the trial of the Decembrists, about 18 participants in the uprising - prisoners of Shlisselburg fortress. Here you can see fragments of the protocols of interrogations of the Decembrists, and copies of the decrees of the emperor of the manifesto of Nicholas I, published list of state criminals.

A separate section is devoted to the fate of Nikolai Alexandrovich Bestuzhev - Decembrist, writer, inventor, artist, historiographer of the fleet, which was in detention in the fortress for about a year (1826-1827).
