History and culture: The exhibition “L. S. Bakst and the Tretyakovs” to be held within the project “The State Tretyakov Gallery opens its stores”

The exhibition "L. S. Bakst and the Tretyakovs" will be open in Moscow in November 2016 in the framework of the project "The State Tretyakov Gallery opens its stores".

The name of Lev Samoilovich Bakst (1866 - 1924), world-renowned artist, portrait painter and theater decorator, is inextricably linked with the Tretyakov Gallery.

The first job by Bakst, watercolor "An Evening in the vicinity of En-Senfura in Algeria" by Pavel Tretyakov, was acquired in 1897, and after a few years, the artist married his daughter Lyubov Pavlovna Gritsenko, who became the muse of the artist.

The basis of the exhibition will be her portrait, painted by Bakst in 1903, as well as unique photos and archival documents telling about the amazing love of life-long.
