History and culture: Vintage postcards are presented at the exhibition “Places of F. M. Dostoevsky” in Staraya Russa

19 July 2016

The House-Museum of Fyodor Dostoevsky in Staraya Russa hosted a mini-exhibition of postcards with the views of the late XIX - early XX centuries. The exhibition is not by chance called "Places of Fyodor Dostoevsky in Staraya Russa". It is the same like in photos how a great writer saw this beautiful town, inspired by his views and monuments.

The exhibition presents 27 vintage postcards with views of Staraya Russa. Collection of postcards, photographs and other materials in 1992 was given to the Novgorod Museum Reserve by well-known researcher of life and creativity of Dostoevsky Lev Reynus. On them you can visualize how streets, which the writer walked, looked like.

The exhibition will run until mid-October.

Cultural-historical phenomenon, referred to as "Dostoevsky and Staraya Russa" is in line with such realities of the national culture, as "Pushkin Mikhailovskoye", "Tolstoy and Yasnaya Polyana". Life and work of Fyodor Mikhailovich is inextricably linked to Staraya Russa.
