Memory of Russia: Historical and Cultural Festival “Staraya Ladoga – Russia’s first capital” in the Leningrad region
16-17 July 2016 in Staraya Ladoga (the Leningrad region) is held a historical and cultural festival "Staraya Ladoga – Russia’s first capital". The festival will slightly open to the audience the mysterious veil of the Age of the Vikings and get acquainted with the way of life Rusich, Vikings, Scandinavian and Finno-Ugric tribes inhabiting the area hundreds of years ago and together have created here the first multi-national and multi-confessional public education - a strong alliance of tribes that gave rise to the Russian state.
Special attention at the festival will pay military skill: training on the parade ground it will be possible to master throwing Sulitsa, and learn about the methods of the sword, ax and spear in a lecture-demonstration. There will be held archery tournaments. Plots and scenes of "revived history" described in the tales and legends, will demonstrate various aspects of the peaceful and military life.
But not only military program will be presented to the organizers: the festival will revive the history of the ancient chronicles, medieval music sounds.
