
History and culture: Rare icons are presented at the exhibition “Russian Saints” in Moscow
More than 300 icons from the collection of Felix Komarov are presented at the exhibition "Russian Saints" in the Central Manezh in Moscow, which runs from July 16 to August 21, 2016.
Felix Komarov’s collection includes more than 300 works from the end of the XVI to the beginning of the XX century with the image of the saints - the representatives of different grades of holiness, since the Apostle Andrew. The collection contains images of the main Orthodox saints: Baptist of Rus’ Prince Vladimir, Orthodox Prince-martyrs Boris and Gleb, Pechersk saints, saints of Moscow, St. Sergius of Radonezh, the holy fool Basil, the boy prince Demetrius.
By the number of iconographic rarities the collection exceeds public and private. However, the first collection is of interest through images of little-known saints.
An important part of the exhibition will be great cultural and educational programs aimed at strengthening the interest in ancient art, culture and history of Russia, with daily excursions, which will be carried out by historians and experts in the field of ancient art.
