Society and culture: The exhibition “Miraculous Kazan Image of Our Lady” in Kazan

The State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan (Kazan) hosts an exhibition "Miraculous Kazan Image of Our Lady. Kazan Virgin Monastery", organized as part of the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God of Kazan Mother of God Monastery.

For guests of the museum for three months is provided a unique opportunity to see the treasures and rarities: Old Russian works of painting, drawing, arts and crafts, art photography of the XIX-XX centuries. For the first time in a single exhibition area are exhibited the ancient monuments of artistic culture and spiritual shrines of the Kazan Mother of God Monastery and the Kazan diocese, dedicated to the glorification of the Miraculous Icon of Kazan Mother of God. For the first time after the restoration are presented ancient lists presented of last quarter of the XVI - early XVII centuries with the archetype of the Virgin, manifested 8 (21) July 1579 in Kazan. Among the lists with the miraculous image of the Virgin are represented rarities from the collections of Russian Orthodox Old Believers' Church and Old Believer communities of Staropomorsky consent.

For the first time the exhibition includes a unique historical-memorial material: unique works on the history of the monastery and the publication of documents of the trial of the abduction of the miraculous icon of Our Lady of Kazan, architectural drawings, graphic works, photographs and phototype associated with the construction and life of the monastery and inseparably intertwined with the history of existence of the miraculous image of Our Lady.

During the exhibition, July 19-20, 2016, at the State Museum of Fine Arts of the Republic of Tatarstan is held the meeting of one of the sections of the International scientific-practical conference "Miraculous Kazan Image of Our Lady in fates of Russia and the world civilization".
