History and culture: The exhibition of restored icons “Against Time” in Staraya Ladoga

In the Museum-Reserve "Staraya Ladoga" (the Leningrad region) until 30 September 2016 is held an exhibition "Against Time", which presents 16 icons from the number of works, restored between 2007 and 2015 in Interregional scientific and Restoration Art Center of Academician Igor Grabar, Ltd. "VERN". Many of them have never been exhibited before. They are different in subjects, enforcement techniques, stylistic features works of the XVIII - XX centuries. Among them there is a large temple or chapels icons, and small-format, analogion or privately, homemade images.

The exhibition "Against Time" tells about many things: about the Russian icon of the late period, about iconography as a whole - its characters, plots, domestic laws and creative search icon painter, the difference techniques and the unity of faith, the professionalism and skill of modern artists-restorers of caring for the historical and spiritual heritage, the role of the museum in their preservation.
