History and culture: The exhibition “For the good of Russia”. Industry, Trade and Prince N. B. Yusupov” in Moscow

The new exhibition "For the good of Russia". Industry, Trade and Prince Nikolai Yusupov" in the palace of the Museum-Estate "Arkhangelskoye" (Moscow) tells about the links of Prince Nikolai Yusupov with the domestic industry and trade. It will be open from July 1 to November 1, 2016.

Economy of wealthy nobleman - a mirror of economic development of society. Huge financial resources, capacities, the best samples of products, the latest literature - all this opens the door for business, sometimes leaves an imprint on the history of the country.

One of these businessmen was Prince Nikolai Yusupov (1751-1831), a descendant of a noble kind of Nogay, the grandson of one of the associates of Peter the Great, son of the president of the Commerce College and director of the Infantry Cadet Corps. Since the late 1780s and early 1800s, he led a number of public art productions - Tapestry Factory, Porcelain and Glass plants - as well as Manufactures board and then, in retirement, turned violent activity to establish their own businesses and receive the management of the state, the capacity of trade in industrial and agricultural products are produced in his numerous estates.

One of the most striking evidence of deep involvement of N. B. Yusupov in industrial and commercial matters could be considered his library. More specifically, the collection of the economic literature, numbering more than a thousand volumes, covers almost all sectors of the economy and areas of economic knowledge from the theoretical to strictly applied, as well as publication of laws to regulate economic life.
