Internet and education: “Yandex” to launch the project to train programming to schoolchildren in regions in October

The Russian IT-company "Yandex" with the support of relevant regional ministries and agencies in October 2016 will launch in regions "Yandex.Liceum" - the educational project to teach students the programming.

The project provides for the organization of courses for pupils of 8-9 classes, where they within two years will learn to program in Python. Schoolchildren will be taught by teachers from local schools or universities, trained in "Yandex", the classes will be held in the premises of universities, training centers and other educational organizations.

In October, an educational project "Yandex" will be launched in Kaluga, Penza, Saratov and Tambov. In 2017, the number of cities will be increased to 20, and in the next five years - up to 100 cities. It is expected the project will allow training for about 10 thousand students per year.

Director General of "Yandex" Alexander Shulgin explained that the main objective of the project - to allow students to acquire basic knowledge in the field of programming, in future to continue to evolve in this area. He did not exclude that in the future "Yandex" will cooperate in this project with other major IT-companies.
