Memory of the World: Exhibitions dedicated to the Arctic convoys were opened in Arkhangelsk

In the capital of Pomerania is continued to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the arrival of the allied Arctic convoy "Dervish" in the port of Arkhangelsk. On the eve of Arkhangelsk were opened two exhibitions.

On the square in front of the dramatic theater is presented the exposition, prepared by the Moscow Museum "Allies and Lend-Lease". The exhibition provides, in particular, items of equipment of the Soviet, British and American soldiers. The visitors were also presented the legendary Jeep "Willys" and landing a rare instance of a folding bike "Velbayk", which was brought specially for the anniversary of "Dervish" by foreign guests.

The main building of the Northern (Arctic) Federal University (CNPF) presents the exhibition "Flying over the Arctic through time". Materials for it were provided by the SAFU Museum, the Museum of Aviation of the North, the Metropolitan Museum, "The Allies and Lend-Lease" and the Museum of the World Ocean.

At the opening of the exhibition the rector of SAFU Elena Kudryashov said that the university has been researching the history of Allied convoys.

"Our scientists have made a catalog of all the ships of participating allied convoys, all the aircraft that participated in their protection", - she noted.
