Museums and Society: New exposition "The Legend of Mamay. New Reading" will be open on the Kulikovo field in September

The museum complex "Kulikovo Field" features the installation of the new exhibition "The Legend of Mamay. New Reading", which opens to the public in September 2016.

The structure of the new exposition consists of three blocks. According to the authors of the concept of the new museum, the visitor begins to dive into the history of the battle in the opening hall "Fight and battle". In the first minutes he gets the answer to one of the most important issues: the Battle of Kulikovo is different from many other battles that took place in Russia and abroad. Fitting the Battle of Kulikovo in the context of world history, an introductory hall tells about similar to it events that decide the fate of entire nations. These are Siege of Orleans (1429), The Battle of Grunwald (1410), the battle of Kosovo (1389). For our country such important battles along with the Battle of Kulikovo was the Battle of Borodino (1812) and in Prokhorovka (1943).

History of the Battle of Kulikovo the new museum presents in two planes. The visitor will first apply to the well-known monument of the Old Russian literature "The Legend of Mamay", and then together with researchers subjected chronicle the history of comprehensive scientific analysis. This logic should check the new exhibition. On the ground floor the visitor acquaints with the historical facts, which have been for centuries on the surface. For scientific information on the Battle of Kulikovo, archaeologists and other scientists, the visitor descends into the earth.

The most complete chronicle monument "The Legend of Mamay" will go back in time and be a witness to the events of August-September 1380. Literary narrative extant in more than 150 manuscripts, reinforce the authentic evidence of the battle. In conclusion, dating to the first hall will be featured more than 70 relics of the Battle of Kulikovo, discovered by archaeologists on the Kulikovo field.

The central object of scientific understanding of the events in 1380 is an interactive layout of the field Battle of Kulikovo. In a reconstructed landscape of the XIV century is presented an event chronicle of September 7 and 8 - from the Russian troops crossing over the Don until the fierce battle, which is about to enter Ambush regiment. On 9 square meters are located 4000 figures - horse and foot soldiers, horses, camels, carts Russian convoy, banners and tents Horde and Russian armies and even boats on Don and Nepryadva. For the first time in the history of the major battles of models are presented here generals and heroes of the battle. The model is placed under the glass prism, pyramid. It not only has a protective function, but also thanks to the built-date technical means is able to "revive" a picture of the battle.
