World culture: Russian scientists have discovered ancient temple of XII century in Yamal

Employees of the Institute of Northern Development Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) found an ancient sanctuary of the XII century and a cemetery with 80 graves at Mamayev cape in Taz district of Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District (YANAO).

According to scientists, the ancient Mameev Cape was the "center of life" in the Tazovsky region. The excavations on the territory of Mamayev Cape was conducted by ethnography, anthropology and archaeological squad specialists.

Earlier, in another medieval cemetery of the IX-XIII centuries - "Green Yar", which is located on the territory of the district of Priuralsky YANAO, scientists have discovered the remains of ancient people. In total, the complex found more than 30 burials and 12 mummies, mostly men and children. In 2000, the mummy of a male warrior was discovered.
