History of Russia: Unique images presented at the photo exhibition "Children's World of the Romanovs" in Tobolsk

In memory of the 99th anniversary of the arrival of the family of the Romanovs to Tobolsk (6 August 1917) at the Museum of the history of exploration and study of Siberia by A. A. Dunin-Gorkavich of the Tobolsk complex scientific station of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was opened an exhibition of "Children's World of the Romanovs".

250 copies of the photos from the collections of the State Archive of the Russian Federation (GA RF), and the State Historical Museum, as well as from the collection of the former maid of honor Anna Taneyeva-Vyrubova stored at Yale University (USA), are presented at the exhibition in Tobolsk.

The exhibition tells the story of the children of the last Russian tsar, the features of their education, the world of relationships, entertainment, open everyday lifestyle of the family. Thus, the available funds in the Russian Federation State Archive a large collection of amateur photos of the Romanov family, their relatives and approximate gives a fairly complete picture of their daily life, hobbies, pastimes, children's games. Almost all of these images have been complicated restoration, digitized and are available on the official website of the State Archives.

A significant part of the exhibition are photographs that belonged to the nearest friend of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna Anna Alexandrovna Taneyeva-Vyrubova. She was close to the royal family for many years, accompanied by their journeys, attended the private family activities. After the October Revolution has experienced arrests and interrogations, but she still managed to illegally move to Finland, where she spent the remaining 44 years of her life. Stored by her photo collection consists of six albums, which contains 1500 images. Albums were purchased from Vyrubova by student Robert Brewster and donated to Yale, which are stored in the library today. In 2012, 500 copies of the photographs in this collection were handed over to the city of Tobolsk administration for display in the Museum of the history of development and study them in Siberia by A. A. Dunina-Gorkavich of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
