Memorable dates of Russia: Exhibition "Good storyteller", dedicated to the 140th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Bilibin in Veliky Novgorod

From 16 to 31 August 2016 in the department of literature on the art of the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library is held the book exhibition "Good storyteller", dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Russian artist Ivan Bilibin. The exhibition includes publications about the artist and his works, books with illustrations by Bilibin.

Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (1876-1942) - an outstanding Russian painter, graphic artist, book illustrator, theater designer, a member of the "World of Art".

His work - a tradition of ancient folk art with a modern twist with all the laws of book graphics. The style in which he worked, came to be called by his name - "Bilibinsky".

I. Y. Bilibin illustrated 17 books, mostly on Old Russian themes, performed sketches of scenery and costumes for 18 performances, among them - the tales of A. S. Pushkin, operas by M. Glinka and N. Rimsky-Korsakov.
