
International events: The exhibition “Commonwealth of Independent States – a quarter of a century” in Moscow
The Russian State Library (Moscow) continues its exhibition "Commonwealth of Independent States - a quarter of a century". It is organized by the department of official and legal publications in the framework of the anniversary project dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The exhibition presents documents and publications, telling about the history of the Commonwealth. Visitors can learn about all aspects of the activity of this authoritative international organization, to obtain information on the socio-economic situation of the member states of the CIS, and on trends in multilateral relations between the participating countries.
Visitors and readers of the RSL can familiarize themselves with the Charter of the CIS, the basic documents of the Commonwealth, newsletter of Councils of Heads of State and Government, a collection of the CIS Executive Committee and the Interstate Economic Committee, messengers and newsletters of Interparliamentary Assembly of States - participants of the CIS and other documents.
The exhibition on the marble staircase opens Russia's important role in the development and strengthening of partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation with the CIS countries.
A separate exhibition stand is allotted to Eurasian integration project. The exhibits reflect the history and basics of the Eurasian Economic Union, include analysis of the norms of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union, the juridical framework of Eurasian integration, characteristic institutions, powers, functions, procedures and decision-making bodies of the Union and the overall activity of the states - members of the EAEC.
Organizers of the exhibition are advised to pay attention to the section, telling about the formation and development of inter-library links to the former Soviet Union. References and model legislation developed by the Library Assembly of Eurasia and adopted by the Standing Committee on Culture, Information, Tourism and Sport and approved by the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of States - participants of the CIS department are presented by the interlibrary cooperation between Russia and the CIS Countries (MBRS).
