Memorable dates of Russia: Celebrations dedicated to 1154-th anniversary of Russian statehood in Veliky Novgorod

In Novgorod September 21, 2016 are held solemn events dedicated to the 1154th anniversary of Russian statehood and the 154th anniversary of the opening of the monument "Millennium of Russia". By tradition, they begin with the Divine Liturgy in St. Sophia Cathedral and the religious procession from the St. Sophia Cathedral to the monument "Millennium of Russia".

Then it will take place the opening ceremony, presentation of state awards. Planned: demonstration performance of company guard of honor, a concert combined choir of Veliky Novgorod. There are special holiday programs for students and Sunday schools of Veliky Novgorod "History of the monument - the history of Russia", the exhibition "Monasteries of Veliky Novgorod" and other activities.

The festival was revived by the Decree of the President of Russia of the March 3, 2011 to further consolidation of Russian society. Its date is timed to the opening of the monument "Millennium of Russia" in the Novgorod Kremlin in 1862.
