World history: Exhibition "Grimaldi and the Romanovs. Three Centuries of History" was opened in Sevastopol
On September 8, 2016 three centuries of diplomatic relations between Russia and Monaco, from the history of life of the most influential Genoese family Grimaldi are presented in the State Museum-Reserve "Chersonese" (Sevastopol). It opened the exhibition "The Romanovs and Grimaldi. Three centuries of history". The exhibition includes copies of unique documents from the State Archive of the Russian Federation.
Princely House of Grimaldi - one of the oldest in Europe. Grimaldi dynasty is ruling in the Principality of Monaco from the XIII century. Presented from Russian archives and Monaco documents tell the story of the development of relations between states. The historical aspect of relations and contacts can play an important role in strengthening bilateral cooperation between Monaco and Russia. In this context, a very serious factor can become acquainted with the public representatives of the genus Grimaldi activity on the territory of Crimea in XIII - XV centuries - that is, in the territory, which then, in 1783, became part of the Russian Empire, as well as dynastic ties Grimaldi and the House of Romanov House during XVII - XX centuries.
Russian archives also keep a certain body of documents on the history of our diplomatic relations XVII - XX centuries. From personal funds of the Romanov family, stored in the State archive of the Russian Federation, the exhibition presents documents as the representatives of the prince of Monaco visits the house in Russia, and about Romanov trips to Monaco.

October 7 - November 13, 2016 the exhibition will be available to Muscovites, it opens at the State Tretyakov Gallery. In addition to the halls of the gallery of archival documents from the State Archive of the Russian Federation and other federal archives and museums in Russia and the Archives and the Library of the Prince's Palace of Monaco, will be presented species prints, paintings and sculptural portraits.
