Monuments of book culture: Exhibition project "Lay" of the Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve is presented in Saratov

September 9, 2016 in the Saratov Regional Museum of Local History is held a presentation of the exhibition "Lay".

This is an exhibition project of the Yaroslavl State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve. It has the only Russian exhibition of "Lay", created with the participation and support of Academician Dmitry Sergeyevich Likhachev. The project started in 2015, the Year of Literature in Russia. On the exhibition were introduced and gave her a high score for the inhabitants of Ryazan, Cherepovets, Kemerovo. Its exhibition in Saratov projects is included in the cycle, timed to the 130th anniversary of the Saratov Regional Museum of Local History.

More than 200 unique exhibits of the Museum-Reserve meeting appear before the audience to show the beauty of ancient art and literature, to convey the unique image of the epoch, reveal in detail and artistic world of "Lay". These are archaeological materials, icons, books, brass casting, facial embroidery, works of fine arts of X-XX centuries. Visitors will learn about the history and the book culture of Yaroslavl and the Yaroslavl Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery, the only treasured list of "Lay". It tells the story of the collector of antiquities - Catherine nobleman AI Musin-Pushkin, whose name is linked to the history of discoveries, publications, and the death of the only manuscript of the "Word".

Fine interpretation of Old Russian poem viewers will see in the many-sided and emotionally saturated works of artists of the XX century. The publications, studies and translations of "Lay", as well as book illustrations are presented. The interactive part of the exhibition can pick up Ceru - waxed tablet for writing - and style - the old tool for writing, to try to write the text, as it was done in ancient Russia.
