10 September 2016

The exhibition "A. S. Pushkin "Captain's daughter". To the 180th anniversary of the publication of the story" opens on September 10, 2016 at the State Pushkin Museum in Moscow.

This year marks 180 years since the publication of the novel Pushkin's "The Captain's Daughter". The exhibition project, prepared by the State Museum of AS Pushkin, with the participation of leading museums and archives of Russia and Moscow, is timed to coincide with this important date. Its goal - to give a broad historical panorama of the Peasants' War of 1773-1775; to show how the events of those years were reflected in the novel Pushkin, glancing at them through the eyes of a historian and the eyes of the artist, as well as to trace the life of "The Captain's Daughter" in other arts: painting, drawing, book illustration, cinema. Despite the fact that the main part of the exhibition is devoted to Pushkin's novel, the chronological framework of the exhibition is more widely. They cover the period from the end of the XVIII century, when the "Russian revolt, senseless and merciless" covered a vast territory of the Russian Empire to the present day, when the "Captain's Daughter" by A. S. Pushkin has become an integral part of Russian culture.
