Information technology and regions of Russia: The Sakhalin region to digitize one of the oldest local newspapers

The municipal district library of the Uglegorsk district of the Sakhalin region is planning to transfer to electronic documents of local history and, above all, local periodicals.

"The library was the only guardian filing library newspaper "Uglegorsk news", which has been published since 1947, - told the director of the institution Galina Kondrashkina. - Neither in the archives of the region, neither in the editorial office of the issues over the past decade there, and they are very much in demand by users as a source of natural history information". According to Galina, the newspapers greatly dilapidated and secure digitization via planetary scanner ElarSKAN A2 provides the user with a copy of the edition numbers and the originals preserved as a valuable local history documents.
