The Year of Russian Cinema-2016: The exhibition "Cinema + Theatre". Russian drama in the film and on the stage "in Moscow

On September 4, 2016 in the hall of the East facade of the main building of the A. A. Bakhrushin Theatre Museum (Moscow) opens the exhibition "Cinema + Theater". Russian drama in the film and on the stage". In the Year of Russian Cinema the A. A. Bakhrushin Theatre Museum together with the Art Faculty of the S. A. Gerasimov All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography with the support film concern "Mosfilm" and a film studio "Lenfilm" show the stage and screen history of the most striking works of Russian drama. 

The exhibition in the A. A. Bakhrushin Theatre Museum offers to reflect what more - the common or different - in the working process in the theater and film productions, and the example of five adaptations of great works of Russian drama "Boris Godunov" by Alexander Pushkin, "Masquerade" by Mikhail Lermontov, "Bride" by Alexander Ostrovsky, "Uncle Vanya" and "Three sisters" by Anton Chekhov.

The history of each of these plays on the stage and the silver screen has a lot of episodes. At the exhibition it says the sketches of scenery, costumes, stage settings, posters, photos and footage, texts and manuscripts roles.

The exhibition will be a unique opportunity to see for the first time found in the museum in the analysis of archival material footage from the silent film "War and Peace", shot by Yakov Protazanov and Vladimir Gardin in 1915. The film has not been preserved, but we know that it consisted of two series, each - duration about five hours. 33 photographs presented at the exhibition - today the only known material by which to judge this film.

The exhibition hall will house creative laboratory. It is a space where guests can immerse themselves in the process of creating theater or cinema scenes. Here unique archival materials will be presented for work and study.

The exhibition will run until October 2, 2016.
