The Year of Russian Cinema-2016: An exhibition "Cinematic Kostroma"

The exhibition "Cinematic Kostroma" dedicated to the history of the emergence of cinema, filming locations of feature and television films on the territory of Kostroma, which is called "Volga Hollywood", has been opened in the city center, within the Red Rows.

At 27 stands, forged metal, the exhibition organizers have placed information on the actors, director and plots of popular movies, starred in Kostroma during the last century, as well as hundreds of Kostroma citizens, which repeatedly became actors of crowd scenes during filming.

According to local historian in Kostroma Nicolai Murenin, in the Year of the Russian cinema in Kostroma was released a special edition of the magazine "Provincial House", dedicated to films made in the city. Films and collected ofthem interesting facts were so much that all the stories could not even fit in the 120 pages of the publication.

The most famous "Kostroma" films have become "Cruel Romance", "Demons", "Dark Eyes", "The Snow Maiden", "Bride", "Doctor Zhivago" directed by Eldar Ryazanov, Nikita Mikhalkov, Igor Talankin, Alexander Proshkina and many others.

According to historians, directors were always attracted with the look of the city in which the "rigor of the temples and monasteries resonated with provincial simplicity and brightness fairs and restaurants, picturesque views of the Volga embankment and ancient streets".

According to historians, in Kostroma, since 1915, has been partially or completely made more than 100 films.
