
The Russian language and society: A meeting on the Russian Language Council under the Government of Russia took place in Moscow
A meeting on the Russian Language Council under the Government was held on 27 October 2016 in the Russian State Library, chaired by Vice-President of Government Olga Golodets.
The agenda - inter-regional cooperation in order to improve the quality of teaching of the Russian language and promoting it abroad.
Introducing the situation in the field of learning the Russian language Deputy Prime Minister noted the positive dynamics of knowledge on this subject, which were demonstrated by Russian schoolchildren on the exam in 2016. According to her, the percentage of those who did not pass the minimum threshold of 24 points, for the year decreased by more than 2 times - up to 0.7%, and the average test score increased to 67.5 points.
An important problem remains the teaching of Russian language in the subjects of the Federation, which for the greater part of the population is not native. In this regard, Olga Golodets reminded that to solve this problem is realized interregional cooperation project, in which the donor regions, where the teaching of the Russian language at a high level, help the recipient regions to improve their skills of teaching staff. In 2016, the project involved about 17 thousand teachers. Deputy Prime Minister highly assessed the effectiveness of such cooperation and expressed support for the development of this practice.
