World History and Culture: Exhibition "The scenes of Russian life through the eyes of Europeans" in Cheboksary

The Museum of the Chuvash embroidery (Cheboksary) hosts the exhibition "The scenes of Russian life through the eyes of Europeans", provided by the State Historical-Memorial Museum-Reserve "Homeland of V. I. Lenin" (Ulyanovsk).

The exhibition features prints by Western European artists in the XVIII century – the 1st half of the XIX century. Their stories are united by Russia, its people, way of life, manners.

These engravings have enriched funds of the Museum-Reserve "Homeland of V. I. Lenin" by working with well-known Russian collector Andrey Leonidovich Kusakin. Sphere of collecting interest of L. Kusakin is printed graphics of the XVI - XIX centuries, the so-called "Rossika". These are works by foreign artists who worked either in Russia, or reflecting the life and history of our country.

The exhibition "The scenes of Russian life through the eyes of the Europeans" will be a step towards unity of cultural space, will serve as a rich illustration to explore the Russian national originality of the beginning of XIX century.

The exhibition runs till December 23.
