Society and book culture: A unique center of book recovery to appear in Russia

The federal agency of research organizations (FANO) started working on the creation of books recovery center, which has no analogues in our country. Work in this direction is carried out along with the reconstruction of the building of the Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences (INION).

"We are beginning to design a recovery center of books. In Russia, it is not unique - it is a complex project, which is important not only for INION, but for many organizations", - said the head of the agency Mikhail Kotyukov.

He explained that after the fire, which occurred in INION building at the beginning of last year, members of the Institute have already started scanning the surviving books. It is planned that by the end of this year about forty thousand books will be transferred into a digital format.
