Internet and Culture: The Bolshoi Theatre launched a new Internet project on its 240-year history

The Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow) has launched a new internet project "Discover the history of the Bolshoi Theatre", where the entire history of the famous theater for two hundred and forty years will be presented. The project is implemented in partnership with ABBYY. To implement a large-scale plan to work were attracted the volunteers. They help to digitize and decode materials that are stored in the archives of the Bolshoi Theatre.

You can find 170 thousand different theater programs and posters, over 100 thousand pictures. All these historical documents will be scanned and posted on the website. It began to build in the late summer with the financial support of the Bolshoi Theatre Foundation and its Board of Trustees.

Theatre director Vladimir Urin said that thanks to ABBYY's archive digitization will be completed much faster. After this, the materials will be checked, the museum of the Bolshoi Theatre, and then they will be available to website visitors of the Bolshoi Theatre.
