Year of Russian Cinema-2016: Exhibition "In the picture, and behind the scenes. Peterhof in the national cinema" is presented to the 120th anniversary of the first Imperial cinema screening

The Museum of the family Benoit (the Museum-Reserve "Peterhof") until November 9, 2016 hosts an exhibition "In the picture, and behind the scenes. Peterhof in the national cinema".

In the year of the 120th anniversary of the first Imperial cinema in the Grand Peterhof Palace Museum "Peterhof" and the studio "Lenfilm" is presented a joint exhibition project dedicated to the image of Peterhof in the national film industry. The focus of the exhibition - eleven well-known cinema episodes taken against the background of Peterhof landscapes. 

25 (13) July 1896 in the Throne Room of the Big Peterhof Palace "living pictures" were presented to the royal family. Cinema fairly quickly won a public space, pushing into a secondary role in the formulation of metropolitan music halls and vaudeville theaters. At the beginning of XX century in Russia was started its own film industry, which stood at the origins of the film studio "Lenfilm", was largely determined by a particular style and handwriting of domestic cinema.

Creative Union of the Museum-Reserve and the oldest in the Russian film company has lasted for over half a century. The rich cultural and historical "place of memory", a variety of full-scale plans and architectural forms define the cinematic potential of Peterhof as a universal film set. Here implemented a variety of director's ideas and tasks.

Meters of film forever preserved images of the changing time of Peterhof, the last in the XX century, a long way from the imperial residence to the country's largest museum center.

As a unique and previously unpublished material at the exhibition is presented a photo chronicle of shooting process and scenes, the remaining "behind the scenes", and authentic costumes of stars of of Russian cinema - Mikhail Boyarsky, Irina Muravyova, Alice Freundlich et al.
