Information technology and society: Simultaneous translation into the Russian language has been added to Skype video calling

Skype video calling service has added Russian language in the catalog of Skype Translator (translation function for messages and calls in real time) for the interpretation of interlocutors when making video calls.

The Russian language is the ninth in the Skype Translator, available for simultaneous translation. The system also supports English, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin), Italian, French, Portuguese, German and Arabic. When instant messaging the translator supports more than 50 languages.

"Russian - one of the most popular, the most complex and poetic language. Thanks to the translator Skype, millions of Russian-speaking people around the world will be able to communicate in their native language with the people of other countries, without experiencing difficulties in understanding each other", - reported words of the director Microsoft Technology Policy in the Department of Russian Dmitry Khalin.

It is noted that at the heart of Skype Translator is a machine learning technique, that is, self-service is improved with use - the more people use it to communicate, the better is the translation quality.

Simultaneous translation is available for video calls on the PC operating system, Windows 7 and higher. Skype Translator is integrated in a standard desktop application Skype for Windows.
