Memory of Russia: The opening ceremony of the monument to the Soviet Soldier took place in Staraya Russa

October 7, 2016 at the Alley of Heroes in Staraya Russa (the Novgorod region) is held a solemn event dedicated to the opening of the monument to Soviet soldiers.

Monument to Soviet soldiers in Staraya Russa was established on the initiative of the Russian military-historical society. The central part of the sculpture is a 5-meter figure of the soldier, which was created in one of the workshops of the Moscow sculptor Denis Stritovich.

April 6, 2015 Staraya Russa was awarded the honorary title "City of Military Glory" by the Presidential Decree. President of Russia Vladimir Putin announced this in Staraya Russa, during the opening of the All-Russian Memory Watch.
