History and Culture: Exhibition to the 80th anniversary of children’s magazine "Fire" in St. Petersburg

In 2016, the children's magazine "Fire" is 80 years old. October 5, 2016 in the Small Hall of the Exhibition Center of the St. Petersburg Union of Artists is opening the exhibition "Artists of childhood", devoted to the event. The exhibition project includes the exhibition of graphic works by artists of the "Fire" of different years, meetings with the magazine's editors, writers and artists of "Fire", workshops, drawing competitions and literary quiz.

The exposition features 250 graphic works by contemporary artists and masters of Leningrad-Petersburg graphics (total 54 artists).

Monthly literary children's magazine "Fire" was created on the initiative of S. Marshak in 1936 in Leningrad. On the pages of "Fire" in different years were printed Chukovski and D. Harms, L. Panteleyev and V. Bianchi, M. Zoshchenko and V. Kaverin, B. Zhitkov and N. Zabolotsky, I. Brodsky and S. Dovlatov, P. Pogodin and J. Koval, K. Bulychev and E. Uspensky. It is in the "Fire" for the first time in Russian were printed works of Astrid Lindgren and Gianni Rodari. Artists of "Fire" A. Pakhomov (author of the first magazine cover), V. Lebedev, V. Konashevich, E. Charushin, Y. Vasnetsov, P. Basmanov, V. Kurdov, N. Tyrsa – this is a "golden fund" of the national school book graphics.

The exposition in the Artists' Union is made up of 4 sections:

1. Retrospective exposition "Through the pages of magazines of past years".

2. The main artists of the magazine "Fire" in different years and graphics masters who worked in the "Fire".

3. Modern Painters of the magazine "Fire."

4. The history of the magazine in faces - 3 stand for magazine history.
