History and culture: Exhibition "Silent sermon. The Novgorod icon of XIII - XVI centuries" in Moscow

November 25, 2016 at the State Central Museum of Contemporary History of Russia (Moscow) was opened the traveling exhibition "Silent sermon in Novgorod icon of XIII - XVI centuries". The ceremony was timed to coincide with the beginning of Advent.

The exhibits - copies of masterpieces of Russian icon painting from the museum, including ancient Russian icon subscription "St. Nicholas" 1294 by master Alexa Petrova from the Church of St. Nicholas in in Lipno, "Veil of Our Lady" at the end of the XIV century monastery Zverin, "Sts. Cyril and Athanasius of Alexandria, Leonty Rostovsky" of the end of the XV century of Malo-Kirillov Monastery. In addition to the temple images in the exhibition include icons of Deesis, giving an idea of ​​the high Russian iconostasis - an integral part of the decoration of ancient temple. The traveling exhibition enables a wide range of visitors to get acquainted with the most valuable examples of the Novgorod icon painting school, almost not subject to be exhibited outside the main exhibition in Veliky Novgorod, which is one of the world's best collection of Russian icons. For visitors the exhibition will run to December 4.

In October this year "Silent sermon" was presented in Banska Bystrica, a town in central Slovakia in 230 kilometers from Bratislava.
