Memorable dates of Russia: In St. Petersburg, are being taken measures to the 110th anniversary of D. S. Likhachev

November 28, 2016 marks 110 years since the birth of Dmitry Sergeyevich Likhachev.

27-29 November 2016 in St. Petersburg are held events dedicated to this anniversary date.

The memorial program is organized by the Committee for Culture of St. Petersburg, the Institute of Russian Literature (Pushkin House), the Russian Academy of Sciences, the State Museum of Political History of Russia, the Fund "Petersburg heritage and perspective", publishing house "Vita Nova", the D. S.  Likhachev Fund.

The program includes:

• Memorial Conference "The Legacy of D. S. Likhachev in the twenty-first century" (28 November, the Pushkin House)

• The D. S. Likhachev awarding ceremony "For the preservation of Russia's cultural heritage" (28 November, the State Academic Choir)

The award was established by the Government of St. Petersburg and the D. S. Likhachev Foundation in 2006 to the 100th anniversary of the birth of D. S. Likhachev. The jury is headed by D. A. Granin, writer, honorary citizen of St. Petersburg, chairman of the Likhachev Foundation.

The prize is awarded for selfless work in the sphere of preservation of historical and cultural monuments; conservation of museum, library and archival collections; Development of local lore movement in Russia; promotion of historical and cultural heritage over 10 years of its 45 people became laureates. Among them there are the librarians, museum workers, ethnographers, historians, philologists, art historians, restorers, architects, teachers.

• Opening of the exhibition "Dmitry Likhachev. About the main" (29 November, the State Museum of Political History of Russia).

The exhibition is devoted to the social activity of D. S. Likhachev in 1980-1990s. Documents and photographs tell how dramatic stages of Russian history were reflected on the fate of D. S. Likhachev, how social scientist activities influenced public policy, especially in the field of culture and preservation of cultural heritage.

The exhibition includes personal belongings, state awards, mementos, documents, photographs, letters of D. S. Likhachev, provided by his heirs. Visitors will see a documentary chronicle, and fragments of television speeches of Dmitry Sergeyevich.

• Opening of the exhibition "Dmitry Likhachev: archival materials, books and inskripty". Excursion "D. S. Likhachev at Pushkin House" (November 29, Pushkin House).

Personal Archive of D. S. Likhachev is kept in the Manuscript Division of the Pushkin House. It is the largest private archive on the number of documents submitted to it, was reflected in the diversity of its history of Russian culture, science and social life of the XX century.

The Pushkin House hosts two memorial cabinets of D. S. Likhachev - one on the 3rd floor, in the walls of the Department of Old Russian literature, where he was engaged in scientific work; the other - on the 2nd floor, which appeared in his late 80s with the creation of the Cultural Foundation and is designed for the reception of visitors on a variety of issues of cultural life.

• Round table "Libraries of D. S. Likhachev: name and business" (November 29, Pushkin House).

In the 2000s, 7 libraries got the right to bear the name of Likhachev - in Moscow, Novosibirsk, Novokuznetsk, Kirovo-Chepetsk, Rostov-on-Don, Labinsk Krasnodar Territory, and from September 1, 2016 - St. Petersburg (Library № 1 of the Vyborgsky district).

At the invitation of the D. S. Likhachev Foundation directors of all "Likhachev" libraries will take part in the anniversary program. With their participation will be held a round table dedicated to the legacy of D. S. Likhachev.
