Society and Culture: International Conference "Russia - Italy: "realism" in art and culture of the XX century" in Moscow

The two-day international scientific conference "Russia - Italy: "realism" in art and culture of the XX century", held in Moscow on 24-25 November 2016 and organized by the History Department of Moscow State University, the University of Rome «La Sapienza» and the Institute of Russian realistic art with the support of the Italian cultural Institute in Moscow, is conceived as a dialogue between Russian and Italian researchers, who will identify and brighter designate points of contact between the Russian and Italian culture in the XX century.

Key focus of the conference - the interaction of art schools in Italy and Russia: their common aesthetic settings and dramatic stories; "Italian theme" in Russian and Soviet art; perceptions of Russian and Soviet artists of classical art in Italy and its current artistic life, a pensioner's trip and creative business; the ratio of Italian audiences and curators to Soviet art and its media coverage, exhibiting and collecting. The second problem, which will be in the spotlight - forms, the possibilities and limits of the use of "realism" the term applied to a variety of art forms and areas of artistic culture of the XX century in Russia and in the West.
