History of Russia: The IV regional educational Christmas reading "1917-2017: Lessons of the Century" in Penza

22-25 November 2016 in Penza is held the IV regional educational Christmas reading "1917-2017: Lessons of the Century". Co-organizer is the Penza branch of the Russian military-historical society.

The theme of the Christmas Readings 2016 "1917-2017: Lessons of the Century" is offered by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill and approved by the Supreme Church Council.

The purpose of the Christmas Readings - understanding of Russian history of the XX century, the identification of the role of the Orthodox Church in the history of Russia, the formation of an atmosphere of dialogue between the state and civil society institutions. Extensive coverage of topics is designed to ensure consideration of the values ​​that make up the spiritual connection between generations, representing the spiritual, cultural and historical traditions of our people.

The event brings together experts from different areas: Workers in culture and education, clergymen, historians, representatives of state and public agencies and institutions. The main topics of the Christmas Readings in 2016: "XX century in the history of Russia"; "Russian society and the values ​​of the Orthodox civilization"; "The social ministry of the Church"; "Orthodoxy and military service"; "Orthodox thought as a national treasure".

Earlier the regional educational Christmas readings with RVIO activists were held in Moscow, Ulyanovsk, Kursk, Pskov, Vladimir, Tomsk regions and Kabardino-Balkaria.

The final event – the XXV International Christmas Educational Readings "1917-2017: Lessons of the Century" will be held on January 25-27, 2017 in Moscow. The event will begin with Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior Cathedral, headed by Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.
