Memorable dates of Russia: Events to the 200th anniversary of I. S. Turgenev in 2018 will be held in the Tula region

In 2018 Russia will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Turgenev. The main events will be held in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Orel and Tula regions.

The family estate of Ivan Turgenev in Chern district of the Tula region in 2018 will host activities in celebration of the 200th anniversary of the birth of the writer, said the head of the region Alexey Dyumin.

In the estate it is already renovated museum building (the former paper mill), which has now formed a new exhibition. The Ministry of Culture of Russia allocated funds for the restoration of Vvedensky church, built in 1806 by the grandfather of the writer. There were partially preserved murals of outstanding artist Gregory Myasoedov.

Since January of this year "Bezhin Meadow" of the Turgenev Museum-Reserve moved from the municipal to the regional subordination. The building is repaired, and it is now an active work on creation of the new museum. In the museum were transferred the original pieces of furniture and interior, open office of the writer.
