Information technology and libraries: Local history books from the Nizhny Novgorod City Library funds will be digitized to the 150th anniversary of M. Gorky

In the V. I. Lenin Central City Library in Nizhny Novgorod are continued preparations for the anniversary of Maxim Gorky - in 2018 will celebrate 150 years since the birth of the great citizen of Nizhny Novgorod.

There is a transfer program in digital format of publications, in preparation for the anniversary of the writer. Corporation ELAR delivered to the library planetary scanner ElarSKAN A2-400, where a variety of publications will be digitized.

The universal fund of the library contains more than 260,000 books and periodicals, of which 12 thousand sources are in the fund of rare books. According to Tamara Yakunina, library director, many documents require restoration and conservation, and how to provide readers access to them before might not be out of the question. However, due to the acquisition of the scanner, these books will be transferred into electronic form, readers will be able to study without limitation digital copies, and the originals will go to the restoration and conservation.  

In addition to books and journals from the fund of rare book, in the institution they plan to digitize regional literature.
