Museums of Russia: Exhibition "Ladoga fortress. The path length of the millennium" was opened in Volkhov

The Pushkin Cultural and Information Centre in Volkhov (the Leningrad region) hosted an exhibition "Ladoga fortress. The path length of the millennium", dedicated to the 900th anniversary of the Ladoga fortress of the XII century. The exhibition materials are telling about the stages of construction and history of the study and restoration of the fortress. The iconic series of the exhibition amounted to rare photographs, views of the fortress in the visual arts, fortification plans from different periods, variations of graphic reconstructions.

Restoration of ancient buildings is inextricably linked with their careful study. Historians, archaeologists, architects collect by the crumbs of the most valuable monuments of the certificate of life to make informed decisions about their safety and museumfication.

The history of the restoration of the fortress is relatively short, it started a little over a hundred years ago, when was shown a particular interest in the ancient domestic historical and cultural monuments in Russia. In the middle of the XX century it began a new life of an old fortress.
