Memory of Russia: Monument to Prince Vladimir is opened on the Day of National Unity in Moscow

President of Russia Vladimir Putin and Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill on November 4, 2016 opened a monument to Saints Grand Duke Vladimir - Baptist of Rus’ on Borovitskaya Square in Moscow. The monument was created on the initiative of the Russian military-historical society and the government of Moscow. Author of the project - People's Artist of Russia, sculptor Salavat Shcherbakov.

- I greet you and congratulate on the opening of the monument to St. Vladimir. This is a big, significant event for Moscow, and for the whole our country, and for all Russian compatriots. Symbolically, it is held on the Day of National Unity, and it is here, in the city center, near the walls of the ancient Kremlin, in the heart of Russia. The new monument - a tribute to our outstanding ancestor, especially revered saints, statesman and warrior, the spiritual founder of the Russian state, - said at the opening ceremony the President of Russia Vladimir Putin.
