The Year of Russian Cinema-2016: Exhibition "Cinema from another century" in Izhevsk

December 28, 2016 at the Udmurt Republican Art Museum (Izhevsk) took place the opening of the exhibition of posters and sketches for Soviet films "Cinema from another century". 

The exhibition is timed to the International Day of Cinema (December 28) and the end of the Year of Russian cinema and presents a collection of graphic works in the genre of a cinema poster from the museum collections.

Soviet poster - the same age as the XX century. It was originated and grew rapidly along with the young Soviet republic, became the field for a variety of creative experiments, a whole galaxy of outstanding artists.

Bringing to life by the youngest of all the arts - cinema, Soviet film-poster also passed a complicated and interesting way. During its more than 90-year history, it has become a distinctive genre, known not only in the USSR, but also abroad, which had a great influence on the development of poster art in general.

At the exhibition, in addition to film posters-reproductions, made in printing method, are presented sketches of scenery for Soviet films of 50-60s of the last century, also from the museum collection.

The exhibition runs till February 5, 2017.
