Society and Culture: Exhibition "Images of water in Christian art. Monuments of the XV - beginning of XX century" in Moscow
In the Andrei Rublev Museum (Moscow) 21 December 2016 is opening the exhibition "Images of water in Christian art. Monuments of the XV - beginning of XX century". A wide range of different monuments, united symbolic, allegorical, metaphorical images of water, allows us to follow the different aspects of its semantic interpretation in Christian iconography.
The exhibition features about 70 different and rare works of Russian and European art of the end XV - the beginning of XX century, the name of the collection of the Museum of Andrei Rublev, corporate and private collections. In addition to the icons in the display there are works of graphics, monumental painting and arts and crafts. For the first time, viewers will see the recently acquired a copy of the rare museum collections in Russian pictorial engravings of Gospel Natalis, published in Antwerp in 1593.
