History of Russia: Exhibition "Encyclopedia of a Photograph (1891-1991)" in Moscow
December 2, 2016 at the VDNH in the pavilion №15 "Electronics" is opening the exhibition "Encyclopedia of a Photograph (1891-1991)". The exhibition includes 250 works by prominent Russian photographers from the pre-revolutionary photographs of the famous chronicler of Sergei Prokudin-Gorsky to reportage shots by Igor Mukhin during the perestroika period.
The exhibition project "Encyclopedia of a Photograph" covers the period from 1891 to 1991 and at the same time presents an encyclopedia of Russian life of that era. The exhibition consists of ten chapters, which included 250 works of prominent representatives of the Russian photography - both pre-revolutionary and Soviet. Almost all the pictures present textbook images that define a particular era - the most recognizable portraits of writers, from Leo Tolstoy to Vladimir Mayakovski; iconic landmarks of history of the USSR, once imprinted on the covers of major magazines, and today make up the golden collection of Soviet photography. The history of their creation is inseparable from the history of our country, which is presented at the exhibition with the most famous photographic works. The selected by curators "ABC" will be of interest not only professionals but also amateurs.
