History and culture: Exhibition "World of Russian nobility. French Art of XVIII-XIX centuries of the Yusupov princes’ collection at the Hermitage" in St. Petersburg

The exhibition "The World of the Russian nobility. French Art of XVIII-XIX centuries of the Yusupov princes’ collection at the Hermitage" was first presented on December 1, 2016 in the Nicholas Hall of the Yusupov Palace (St. Petersburg).

In the palace of the highest nobility of St. Petersburg for the first time visitors will see 27 paintings of famous French masters. Among them are works by G. Robert, F. Boucher, P. Guerin and others. Also the guests will be presented 8 sculptures. After nearly 100 years the paintings once again will appear at home. Restoration of historical interior and fashion show for the formation and education of the current generation, as the owners wanted, - is the main task of the organizers.

Collection of works of art - the most prominent feature of the image of the Yusupov life. For the founder of the collection Prince Nikolai Borisovich Yusupov-senior, an outstanding statesman who made the glory of the famous family, the collecting was a real passion. Enlightened artistic taste helped him to form a magnificent collection of works by French artists of the time. The works of presented authors are now in the Louvre and other major museums of the world.

"World of Russian nobility" is the third exhibition in the framework of the joint project "The Hermitage – the Yusupov Palace". During the whole period are planned meetings with art critics and a cultural program. The exhibition runs until 31 March 2017.
