Information technology and society: An updated application for reading "Live Pages"
The company Samsung in the Ivanovo hall of the Russian State Library held a presentation dedicated to the new books added to the interactive free app "Live pages". Three other works of Russian literature will be available to fans of the classics in the modern format - on smartphones with the Android platform.
"Live pages" project was launched in 2015, declared the Year of Literature, in cooperation with Tolstoy Digital and ABBYY companies, as well as the Russian State Library and the HSE School of Linguistics.
The first product available in the annex, became the novel of Leo Tolstoy's "War and Peace", which a year later joined the "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky. Now the application can be found three more books: "12 chairs", "The Captain's Daughter" and "Dead Souls", which it was decided to add on the basis of readers' open voting.
"Live pages" offer an unusual format of reading the book. With the help of the so-called scenarios the reader will have to do a number of experiments: to learn new words, to go along with the literary character described in the book by route and match events of the works with real historical facts. Infographics and color-coded will help to navigate the contents of the book.
