
Society and Culture: Exhibition "Literary places of Russia" in Rostov-on-Don
In Rostov-on-Don, at the "Sholokhov Center" of the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve, January 25, 2017 was opened the exhibition ""Here lived a genius… "Literary places in Russia. To the 100th anniversary of the artist Boris Shcherbakov". This is a joint project in which the artist presents works from the Museum of Leo Tolstoy (Moscow), the Alexander Pushkin Museum (Moscow), the A. S. Pushkin Museum-Reserve "Mikhailovskoye" (the Pskov region), the M. A. Sholokhov Museum-Reserve and family collections of B. V. Shcherbakov.
The exposition, which exhibits more than 40 works, is devoted to the life and work of a remarkable artist Boris Valentinovich Shcherbakov (1916-1995) incorporated by the theme "Literary places in Russia".
The name of Boris Shcherbakov among the masters of Russian landscape painting of the XX century stands in the front row. Talented continuer of the traditions of the great painters of the Russian realist school, he was able to find and pay a special tone in his chosen scenic score, to pass the deep essence of poetic sense, bear motifs of native wildlife, their natural charm, beautiful and without false pathos.
The artist has manifested himself in a variety of genres, but in the history of Russian art, he entered as the founder of the genre of "literary landscape", focused on the nature of the literary image of places associated with the life and work of the great Russian writers Pushkin, Lermontov, Ivan Turgenev, Leo Tolstoy, Mikhail Sholokhov and "Penates" - Mikhailovsky and Trigorskoy, Tarkhany and the Caucasus, Spassky-Lutovinovo, Yasnaya Polyana, Vyoshenskaya.
Numerous documents, photos, gorgeous "Self Portrait" of the artist, are provided from the personal collection of the artist by his daughter G. B. Shcherbakova.
The exhibition will run till April 2, 2017.
