History of St. Petersburg: The events dedicated to the 73rd anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade

January 27 the northern capital celebrates an important date - 73 years ago Leningrad was liberated from the Nazis. Thus the city will take a lot of special events.  

At the Field of Mars will held the Military historical reconstruction "victory salute". At The Field of Mars will take divisional gun of the war years. The ones were used by artillery to destroy enemy tanks.

In total will be made 12 volleys, each of which is devoted to units that participated in the operation "The January Thunder". During the operation the enemy was thrown at 60-100 kilometers from Leningrad, were released Krasnoye Selo, Pushkin and other cities. The first such reconstruction was carried out in January 2016. 

The evening of January 27 at the Palace Square will take place the youth patriotic action "The sky over Leningrad 3.0" dedicated to the 74th anniversary of breaking the siege of Leningrad and the 73rd Anniversary of the liberation of Leningrad from the Nazi blockade.

Balloons were guarding the sky over the blockade of Leningrad, not allowing the enemy planes to swoop down and protecting the citizens of precision bombing. On January 27, in the memory of the days in the sky will be raised some accurate layouts of airships.

The reconstruction of breaking the siege of Leningrad will be held on January 28 on the Road of Life in the Leningrad region.

Re-enactors of military-historical club "Watch" will present one of the most important turning points of the Great Patriotic War - the breakthrough of the blockade of Leningrad.

The script is based on the course of "Iskra" operation in 1943. About 300 participants from different countries via air and fireworks will show how these events took place in a living museum format of military history.
