Museums of Russia: The Tula Kremlin to be restored to its 500th anniversary

Most of the work on the reconstruction of the Tula Kremlin will be completed by its 500th anniversary, the celebration of which will take place in 2020.

To prepare for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Tula Kremlin it is being devloped a program of further restoration. It is planned the reconstruction of the guardhouse, a few yards siege. The work will be continued on the formation of museum exposition in the Kremlin. The plans contain the creation of a museum of the participants in the war in Afghanistan, an interactive room for children.

The Tula Kremlin is the monument of defensive architecture of the XVI century. Built by order of Prince Vasily III in 1507-1520 as a southern outpost of Muscovy. Stone Kremlin has the form of a regular rectangle with nine towers. The height of the wall is about 10 meters thick - 2.8-3.2 meters of length of the walls of the Kremlin is 1066.5 meters, the total area of ​​the Kremlin - 6 ha.

The main phase of the reconstruction of the Kremlin in Tula was completed in autumn 2015. As part of the restoration work there were restored walls and towers of the Kremlin, rebuilt the bell tower of the Assumption Cathedral. In addition to the construction of the museum complex in the Kremlin shopping arcades are restored.
