Information technology and culture: The exhibition "Masterpieces of ancient Russian icon painting" in Madrid used multimedia technology

January 20, 2017 at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Madrid will be open the exhibition "Masterpieces of ancient Russian icon painting from the collection of the State Russian Museum", which is held within the cross Year of Tourism Russia - Spain. The exhibition will feature reproductions of icons from the collection of the State Russian Museum, made on the basis of high-gigapixel photography.

All reproductions are accompanied by QR-codes on the Russian and Spanish languages, through which visitors will be able to listen to audio guides about each of the works presented at the exhibition, or to read the accompanying explanatory information of each icon. For the exhibition it is prepared the Spanish version of the multimedia film "Saint Nicholas - patron of peasants", talking about the image of St. Nicholas of Myra in the works of the XII-XIX centuries from the collection of the State Russian Museum.

The exhibition will run till 31 January 2017. In the future it is planned to be shown in other Spanish cities, particularly in the cultural and exhibition center of the Russian Museum in Malaga.
