Museums and society: The VIII Annual Scientific and Practical conference “From “tsar garden” to Museum-Reserve” to be held in Peterhof

The State Museum-Reserve "Peterhof" announces on April 24-25, 2017 of the VIII Annual scientific and practical conference "From "tsar garden" to the Museum-Reserve".

Gardens and parks, as an integral part of any residence, are of particular world created by man and living according to the laws of nature. The uniqueness and complexity of the world is formed by the interaction of an entertaining and practical features, the need to find a balance between the utilitarian and aesthetic, human influence on the image of gardens and parks. 

Peterhof ensemble is not only an architectural complex and a significant collection of works of art, but above all, the museum-reserve with unique natural landscape and a variety of garden items. The need to maintain the integrity of ecosystems, the desire to preserve tradition and, at the same time, the search for new solutions to enable open dialogue about the specifics of this material and its historical authenticity.

To participate in the conference are invited historians, art historians, cultural experts, architects, designers, experts in landscape design and architecture, museum, research and educational institutions.
