Museums of Russia: Imperial Road Palace will be open in Tver after restoration

The museum complex of the Tver Imperial Road Palace will be open in Tver for visitors in early 2017.

The Tver Imperial Road Palace - a unique object of historical and cultural heritage of Russia, a monument of architecture, built in the XVIII century and was originally intended for the rest of the imperial family on the way from St. Petersburg to Moscow

The palace complex of nine objects is recreated according to old photographs, and its pre-revolutionary interior is also restored.

In combination with modern technology and logistics solutions the palace complex will be a real gem of the Upper Volga region and in the whole will meet the highest international standards.

Currently, the Road Palace houses the Regional Art Gallery, which is in a collection featuring paintings by Aivazovsky, Serov, Kustodiev, Repin, Roerich, and other famous artists, representing the great artistic value. Around the palace it is recreated a unique old park that allows you to fully appreciate the palace itself, and the surrounding atmosphere of the era.

The Road Palace in Tver is designed by Peter Nikitin in the 1764-1766, at the beginning of the XIX century was rebuilt by architect Carlo Rossi. The guests of the palace were the historian Nikolai Karamzin, artist Orest Kiprensky poet Vasily Zhukovsky, composer Fedor Glinka, other distinguished writers and educators, prominent political figures. It also housed the military department and the residence of the governors of Tver.
